Do You Really Trust Him?

Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us to:
"Trust in the Lord with all of your heart and lean not unto your understanding in all your ways acknowledge him and He will make your paths straight."

Recently this bible verse has just been stuck in my head. When I lay down at night, when I'm driving to work. No matter what I've been doing lately I just keep hearing it. It has been so consistent that I just had to be honest and ask myself "Tonio do you really trust God like you say you do". I honestly had to admit to myself that on many occasions the trust I display is faulty and very often conditional.(I know many of you know what I am talking about). I am and always have been a believer that in relationships trust is one of the most important things that keeps and binds them together. In other words it helps to maintain and in most cases determines the strength of a relationship. If my trust in God has been faulty and conditional what does that say about my relationship with him? God has and continues to be faithful in the relationship I share with Him and yet I still find time to fall away from and be distracted from God's promises. Now more than ever is the time to put up or shut up. Trusting God is no longer optional in my life, how about yours?

Merry Christmas

It would be very easy for most of us to be depressed this time of year considering the present state of affairs with our world and our own individual lives. On the surface, things just don't seem right and it appears that they may be getting worse. But as people of faith I want to continue to encourage you to walk by faith and not by sight. I realize monetarily that I may not be the wealthiest individual around. But because I can I can wake up each and every day to a family that loves me, because I have a church family who supports me, because I have friends who love and pray for me, and because I have been blessed with health and a sound mind that makes me wealthier than most. Count your blessings this holiday season and be thankful that God is still in control.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year family,
Tonio

HIS WILL

What's up world!? Hope all is well with each of you. Just wanted to share a little something that God recently placed on my heart. Most of you who know me are familiar with the fact that in 1999 I was wrongfully expelled from one of the most prestigious Historically Black Universities (Morehouse College) in the country. This morning I was thinking about it again, as I often do from time to time, and about the numerous transitions I have gone thru since then. I thought back on how at that time college was my most prized and precious possession. I had determined that a college education was the essential key to achieving all of my life's dreams. Then suddenly it, (college education) was unjustly taken from me. On this morning God reminded me again, as he often does, that sometimes the things that we perceive as our most prized and precious possessions have to be replaced with "HIS WILL" for our lives!!!! Since then I have answered the call to spread the good news through music, started a music business, started a wonderful family, and God only knows what other blessings are in store in the near future. It is only through "HIS WILL" that we achieve all our life's dreams and more. For those of you who have had something replaced or taken from you, understand that it may just be an opportunity for God to replace those things with HIS WILL.
(Check out Hebrews 10:36.)
Blessings,
Tonio

Moving Ahead

I recently had the opportunity to be a part of a great music conference here in Atlanta, Georgia called, Go Beyond Potential.(www.gobeyondpotential.com) The registration fee was only 25$ and to my amazement there were only a few people there. The information that was given was absolutely priceless and I was able to begin the development of some "Real and Authentic" relationships. During the latter part of the conference one of the artist, was giving a message on Tilling your ground (Proverbs 29:19: “He who works his land will have abundant food, but the one who chases fantasies will have his fill of poverty.”) Toward the end of the message, we had the opportunity to just mediate on all that we were blessed with on that day, and an open opportunity to hear from God. As we were listening to a song that was being played, I begin to be filled with both joy, and sorrow at the same time. In that moment God clearly showed and assured me on how the vision that he had given me musically and other wise, would affect present generations and generations to come. Again I say, GENERATIONS!!!! Some of you might be saying, ”˜this guy is crazy’ or, ”˜so what.’ But the fact that a little `ole country boy from Tishomingo, Mississippi will be able to affect nations of people is both amazing and somewhat overwhelming to me. At the same time the sorrow I felt was both somewhat for me and others as well. I begin to think back on all the time that I have wasted. Distractions that appear from time to time in my life and get me off course and the opportunities wasted not seriously seeking God and his wisdom when I should have been. And just not being on my A game when I should have been. I really started to understand that if in fact this is what God has called me to do, because of the seriousness of it, I have absolutely have NO MORE TIME TO WASTE!!!!! The sorrow I felt for others was in the fact that some of us may never move ahead because of excuses, not aligning ourselves with the right people who will help bring our dreams to full manifestation, envy, jealousy, not using readily available resources; etc. My sincere prayer is that my people,(and you know who I am referring to), will soon break this ridiculous cycle!!! Pay attention folks!!! It appears that everyone around us is moving ahead and we’re still at a stand still because of the things mentioned earlier. I think now is the time to seriously analyze our lives to see if any of the earlier things mentioned are attached to our character. I believe that God honors honesty and that if we come to him with our mess then we can begin to repair our lives and do away these things. Nothing I am saying is really new under the sun (I know this). But it is time that we start taking these things to heart, (start being doers, and stop being hearers only) if we plan to collectively change our communities and our present situation. Let's make it happen.
Peace and Blessings,
Tonio

STAY FOCUSED!!!!

The opportunity to become distracted, presents itself more often than not in most of our lives. These distractions can be personal ones, media driven, spiritual and physical. From time to time we all find ourselves giving in to these distractions but as time passes WE MUST pay closer attention to what we give our energy to. What I am saying is nothing new under the sun. (just a reminder) God has given each and everyone of us tasks to complete and goals to accomplish. But if we continually find ourselves unfocused and sidetracked it will take much longer for these things to come to fruition. What is God calling you to do?: Be a better father, husband, to create a business, be a better mother, be a musician, be a teacher; etc? The list goes on and on. I believe God has called us to change the world one day at a time in whatever capacity He has called us to fill. But if our energies are always sucked dry by those things(distractions) that are not really important anyway, that is one less day we all have to make this world a better place.

Stay Focused,
Tonio

ALL Things Must Change

One could easily be depressed and hopeless to look at the world and it's present day situation. It is not even necessary for me to go into all that is presently going on. We all have eyes to see and ears to hear. But what I do want to offer to us is all is some encouragement. I am firm believer that at some point in all of our lives all things must and will change. Sometimes in our own complacency and comfortability(i hope that is a word) things have to be shaken and made uncomfortable for us to move and do something different. I am willing to be that all those who read those either know someone or either themselves are going into a transition into something new. HEAR ME WITH YOUR HEARTS: ALL THINGS WERE MEANT TO CHANGE!!!! God has given each and every one of us the ability to change our present personal and collective situations. It is a must that we stop sitting down on this opportunity. Let us all begin to stand together with Faith, Love, and the Power God has given us to change our lives and this world, because life will inevitably change with or without our help.

(Check out Ecclesiastes 3:1-8)

Peace and Blessings,
Tonio
